The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to match his Renewed Hope Agenda with tangible action by ensuring the immediate takeoff of the long-awaited Ibom Deep Seaport project.
In a statement issued Monday in Uyo, and signed by its President, Solomon Adodo, the youth body described the seaport as a “transformative initiative” capable of unlocking massive job opportunities, driving industrial growth, and strengthening Nigeria’s economic recovery.
Adodo’s call follows Governor Umo Eno’s declaration at his official reception into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, June 21, 2025, that his primary reason for aligning with the ruling party was to accelerate the seaport’s development—an ambition several past administrations have failed to achieve in over three decades.
“The Ibom Deep Seaport holds the key to Akwa Ibom’s future as a maritime and industrial hub. Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda must extend to this strategic project,” Adodo said.
He praised President Tinubu’s reforms across economic, infrastructure, and youth empowerment sectors, stating that the President’s policies are restoring confidence and setting the stage for national renewal.
The NYCN also commended the State Commissioner for Youth, Dr. Ekerette Ekanem, for strengthening youth engagement, and lauded Senate President Godswill Akpabio for rallying Akwa Ibom behind the Federal Government’s progressive vision.
The youth body urged Governor Eno to stay focused on governance, harness youth creativity, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive lasting development beyond 2027.
