Ughelli, Delta State – A suspected vandal has been arrested for allegedly removing vital iron rods from the pedestrian slabs of the newly constructed Ebu Bridge along the Ughelli–Asaba Road. The suspect was reportedly apprehended by the Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Jamani Ejiro, directly at the scene of the vandalism.
The individual, identified as Emmanuel Sunday, hails from Ikot-E kpene Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State. Investigations revealed that Sunday was employed as a contract carpenter by the very construction company responsible for the bridge. During questioning, he confessed to the act of vandalism.
Commissioner Ejiro has since handed over Emmanuel Sunday to the police for further investigation and prosecution, signaling a stern response to infrastructure sabotage.
