A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Hon. Seyi Olorunsola, has declared that the party will secure victory in the 2027 general elections without relying on Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Olorunsola, Convener of the Tinubu/Barau/Atah Movement, told journalists in Kano on Sunday that the APC already has a formidable structure across the three senatorial districts, making Kwankwaso’s support irrelevant.
He said the movement has endorsed Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin as the party’s 2027 governorship candidate, with Minister of State for Housing, Yusuf Abdullahi Atah, as his running mate.
The APC stalwart warned President Bola Tinubu and the party’s national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, against giving Kwankwaso undue attention, insisting that his entry into APC would only destabilize the arrangement.
Olorunsola maintained that APC won the 2023 election at the polls, tribunal, and Court of Appeal before “everything changed overnight” at the Supreme Court, stressing that the party will reclaim Kano in 2027.
He advised Kwankwaso to start from his ward and obey APC’s rules and constitution if he truly intends to join the ruling party.
