Chief Victor Ogba, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Delta State and President of the Movement for Nigeria’s Transformation (MNT), has asserted that only a complete overhaul of Nigeria’s value system can guarantee lasting political and economic stability.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday as Nigeria marked its 65th Independence Anniversary, Ogba stressed the need for national introspection.
“While we celebrate our independence today, it is an opportunity for us to have a sober reflection over our conduct and values as citizens,” he said. He urged Nigerians to contribute positively to nation-building by being honest, dedicated, and subordinate to constituted authorities.
Ogba encouraged citizens to look beyond the country’s current difficulties, describing the challenges as an inevitable part of nation-building, and to focus on the long-term benefits of the ongoing reforms.
The APC chieftain commended President Bola Tinubu’s policies, praising him as a leader committed to repositioning the country. He also lauded the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for aligning his state’s efforts with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting the importance of cross-party consensus on development goals.
Concluding his remarks, Ogba called for renewed patriotism, insisting that Nigeria offers better prospects than many countries often idealized abroad. “Nigeria is better than most countries of the world that we think are heaven on earth. Let us begin to appreciate ours,” he added, stressing that the country remains the only home where Nigerians’ destinies can be shaped for the better.
