The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has again shifted the formal defection of Governor Agbu Kefas from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, moving the event to January 2026.
State chairman of the APC, Barrister Ibrahim El-Sudi, confirmed the development during a telephone interview with Prime Gossip..
El-Sudi said Governor Kefas would officially join the APC in January next year but did not provide reasons for the latest postponement.
This marks the third time the governor’s planned defection has been rescheduled by the party.
Governor Kefas was initially expected to defect on November 19, but the event was cancelled following the kidnap of students in Kebbi State.
The defection was later fixed for this coming Saturday, before the APC again announced a shift in the date.
El-Sudi also disclosed that the party had taken disciplinary action against some ward executives found to have violated the party’s constitution.
He said the suspension was part of efforts to strengthen internal order and ensure adherence to party rules.
The chairman urged aggrieved members to explore all internal mechanisms for dispute resolution before approaching the courts.
He said the party remains committed to maintaining unity and discipline ahead of major political realignments in the state.
The planned defection of Governor Kefas has been a major political issue in Taraba, generating intense discussions among party members and stakeholders.
