Army: Bandits Feeling the Heat of Our Operations — Theatre Commander

By Peter Onyekachukwu, Gusau

The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force North West (Operation FANSAN YAMMA), Major General Warrah Idris, says bandits behind the abduction of schoolgirls in Niger State are under intense military pressure as troops intensify rescue operations.

General Warrah gave the charge during an on-the-spot assessment of St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area, where the students were abducted. He urged troops to sustain “unyielding pressure” on the criminals until the captives are safely returned.

During the visit, the Theatre Commander received detailed briefings from the General Officer Commanding 2 Division and Commander Sector 3 OPFY, Major General C.R. Nnebiefe, on ongoing coordinated efforts with other security agencies to ensure the girls’ rescue.

A statement signed by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Captain David Adewusi, quoted General Warrah as saying that the intensified operations were already taking a toll on the bandits.

“The bandits are clearly feeling the heat of our operations and will find no safe haven,” he said.

General Warrah further directed troops to remain vigilant and relentless, emphasizing that no respite must be granted to the perpetrators until all abducted students are rescued and reunited with their families.

He also assured the troops that all necessary resources, support, and operational enablers would be provided to ensure mission success.
