Army Busts Bandits’ Hideout, Recovers Arms in Taraba

By Peter Onyekachukwu, Jalingo

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Jalingo, have dealt a major blow to bandit groups in Taraba State with the discovery of a cache of arms at a hideout in Ikyaior village, Wukari Local Government Area.

The breakthrough followed credible intelligence that suspected criminals, allegedly sheltered by one Mr. Terhemen Nzagha, popularly known as Full Fire, were operating along the Taraba–Benue border. Acting on the report, the troops stormed the area on Saturday, searched the hideout, and recovered assorted weapons.

Items seized include three AK-47 magazines, three FN rifle magazines, two FN rifle stocks, two breech blocks and slides, an AK-47 firing mechanism, a mini-telescopic sight, charms, and other military accessories. However, no suspect was arrested as the criminals had fled before the troops arrived.

Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, hailed the troops for their professionalism and swift action. He assured residents that the military will sustain the pressure until all criminal elements are flushed out of the state.

General Uwa also appealed to communities to continue sharing credible and timely intelligence with security agencies, stressing that collaboration is key to consolidating peace and security in Taraba and its neighbouring states.
