Bauchi Gov Reshuffles Cabinet, Sacks Women Affairs Commissioner

By Peter Onyekachukwu

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has approved a minor shake-up in his cabinet with the removal of Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, on Sunday.

According to the statement, the governor’s decision is part of an ongoing review of the State Executive Council aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery.

Hajiya Zainab’s removal takes immediate effect, bringing her tenure in the ministry to an end after years of service in the Governor Mohammed-led administration.

While thanking the former commissioner for her contributions, the governor wished her success in her future endeavours.

The statement, however, did not provide details on the reason for the reshuffle or indicate who will be appointed to take over the ministry.

Observers say the development may signal the beginning of a broader restructuring within the governor’s cabinet as he continues his second term in office.

The Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development is considered one of the key portfolios in the state, focusing on issues of child welfare, gender equality, and women empowerment.

Governor Mohammed, who has been vocal about strengthening institutions in the state, has reshuffled his team at intervals, maintaining that performance and accountability remain the benchmarks for his cabinet members.
