The newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu, has been reportedly involved in a fatal auto crash in the Surulere area of Lagos, an incident that, according to preliminary information, resulted in the death of one individual.
Yakubu, who recently won the closely contested AGN presidency after narrowly defeating Rita Daniels with a margin of just three votes 116 to 113, was immediately taken into police custody at the Barracks Police Station in Surulere. He remains under police watch as authorities launch a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
As of press time, authorities have not released an official statement detailing the cause of the crash or the full outcome of the ongoing police inquiries. The incident casts a sudden shadow over Yakubu’s recent elevation to the leadership of the nation’s foremost actors’ body.
