Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and social decay are signs of a nation drifting far from moral order, the President of God’s Kingdom Society (GKS), Brother Felix Ekundayo Adedokun, has warned.
Speaking in Warri, he said the killings and violence spreading across the country reflect a deeper national crisis rooted in disobedience to God and neglect of Christ’s teachings.
Adedokun stressed that unless Nigerians return to the values of love, truth, justice, and righteousness, the country will continue to grapple with bloodshed, fear, and instability.
He said the alarming rate of kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, and ritual killings is only a symptom of a deeper spiritual illness. According to him, Nigeria’s troubles persist because both leaders and citizens have abandoned the virtues Christ taught compassion, mercy, humility, and the sanctity of life.
The GKS President lamented that those entrusted with power have failed to lead with integrity and service, choosing instead selfishness and lawlessness.
This leadership failure, he explained, has opened the door for evil to thrive, leaving the nation in a state of mourning.
Citing biblical warnings, he said societies that turn away from God’s commandments inevitably face suffering, instability, and moral collapse. Nigeria, he noted, is not exempt from these consequences.
Adedokun described the ongoing wave of killings, rape, destruction of farmlands, and arson as manifestations of Satan’s intensified activities in the Last Days. Nigerians, he said, have become “easy prey” because the knowledge of God has diminished in homes, schools, and public institutions.
Quoting Hosea 4:1–3, he warned that nations filled with lies, bloodshed, and adultery will continue to experience calamities until righteousness is restored. Only a sincere return to godliness, he said, can invite divine mercy and healing upon the land.
He condemned the escalation of kidnapping across the country, calling it an abomination before God. Adedokun cited Deuteronomy 24:7 and 1 Timothy 1:9–10 to remind perpetrators that divine judgment awaits those who abduct or shed innocent blood, regardless of whether they escape human punishment.
The cleric urged citizens to reject all forms of violence and embrace the commandment of loving one’s neighbour, insisting that peace can never be achieved through revenge, hatred, or greed. “Follow peace with all men and holiness,” he said, “for without these, no man shall see the Lord.”
On leadership, he emphasised that rulers must govern with the fear of God, showing justice, fairness, and compassion to the poor. According to him, leaders who embrace righteousness will earn divine protection, while those who promote oppression will face God’s judgment.
Turning to the annual GKS Feast of Tabernacles, which begins on December 14, Adedokun said the observance offers Nigerians an opportunity for moral reflection and spiritual renewal. He explained that although the Old Testament rituals no longer apply, the spiritual significance of the feast remains binding on Christians today.
He said Jesus Christ himself participated in the Feast of Tabernacles and used the occasion to teach, showing that true worshippers must honour God “in spirit and in truth.” The eight-day celebration, he noted, will feature sermons, processions, music festivals, and the Last and Great Day Convocation.
Adedokun recalled that the GKS has, for decades, warned Nigeria about the dangers of departing from righteousness. He referenced the church’s famous 1960 message, Only by Righteousness Will Independent Nigeria Survive, saying the warning remains relevant today.
According to him, the hardships facing the nation insecurity, inflation, unemployment, and widespread fear mirror global signs of the Last Days as foretold by Jesus Christ. Nigerians, he said, must therefore seek God’s true kingdom and remain prayerful to escape the calamities unfolding worldwide.
He concluded by urging the media to promote truth, moral guidance, and messages that uplift society. The church, he added, will continue to speak boldly on national issues, praying for God’s protection for all who uphold righteousness and truth through Jesus Christ.
