Dein of Agbor Earns Global Praise as Nigerians Celebrate His Birthday and Leadership Legacy

As Nigerians at home and abroad continue to celebrate the birthday of His Royal Majesty, Dr. Benjamin Keagborekuzi Ikenchukwu, the revered Dein of Agbor, voices from across the world have poured in with tributes that highlight his growing stature as a symbol of transformational leadership and cultural pride.

Among the notable Nigerians who have spoken in glowing terms of the monarch is Grand Knight Emeritus, Sir Tonna Okei, popularly known as the Asoju Oba of Oyotunji. Okei described the Dein’s birthday as a “double celebration,” noting that it came just days after the monarch received the Sheriff’s Award for Excellent Leadership from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in South Carolina, USA.

In a heartfelt message, Okei remarked, “The Dein of Agbor exhibits the highest level of professional and traditional ethics. His commitment to integrity, the rule of law, and the welfare of his people has earned him not just admiration but respect beyond Nigeria’s borders.”

Okei, who also serves as President of the South Carolina Organization of African Unity (OAU), expressed gratitude for the monarch’s personal support in his efforts to promote African heritage in the diaspora. “I have benefited immensely from his support—his notes, encouragement, and prayers have guided my leadership,” he said.

He recalled how the Dein’s virtual address during the racial unrest in the United States left a lasting impression on community leaders. “During a Zoom meeting with Carolina leaders, His Majesty called for peace and unity. He quoted extensively from global literature and history. That intervention was so powerful that the State of South Carolina honoured him with a Legislative Award in 2023.”

Others joined the chorus of praise. Emeke Ehikwe, eldest son of the Oriri of Agbor Alidinma, hailed the monarch as “a traditional ruler of impeccable character.” Similarly, Lady Felicia Okei, who was recently appointed Patron of the Alidinma Community Union, offered prayers for continued divine protection and long life for the monarch.

From South Carolina to Agbor, from government officials to everyday citizens, the Dein’s birthday has become more than just a personal milestone. It has become a moment to celebrate a life dedicated to service, culture, and bridging global communities.

“I am proud,” Sir Tonna concluded, “that Agbor has a king who commands honour not only at home but abroad. May he continue to drink from the fountain of wisdom and lead us with strength and grace.”
