DELTA: Members of the Delta State Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have distanced themselves from a petition filed by the state chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, against the party’s National Publicity Secretary (NPS), Barrister Felix Morka.
The SEC members described the petition, which called for Morka’s removal, as baseless and a personal move by Sobotie without the approval of the party’s leadership in the state.
In a letter to APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the committee members condemned Sobotie’s actions and urged the National Working Committee (NWC) to take immediate disciplinary measures by suspending him.
According to the SEC, the petition was “grossly misconceived, petty, and reckless.”
They accused Sobotie of running the party in a dictatorial manner, neglecting his duties, and acting without consultation.
“We have lost confidence in Sobotie’s leadership,” the SEC members stated.
They alleged that Sobotie had created a leadership vacuum in the party, allowing unauthorized individuals to interfere in its affairs. The members also accused him of having questionable ties with the Delta State government, which is controlled by the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The committee further dismissed Sobotie’s allegations against Morka, stating that there was no evidence to support his claims. “We have reviewed all available reports and found no proof that the NPS made any statements against the party’s interest,” the letter read.
The SEC members expressed full confidence in Morka and called on the NWC to dismiss Sobotie’s petition. “His continued stay in office is damaging the party. We urge the leadership to act now to restore the party’s unity and integrity,” they added.
