Accuses Committee of Polarizing Party, Advocates for Constitutional Adherence

DELTA: Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has strongly criticized the Olorogun O’tega Emerhor-led reconciliation committee, accusing it of worsening divisions within the party rather than healing rifts following the recent election.
Speaking at his Ibusa residence over the weekend, Nwaoboshi expressed concerns about the committee’s unconstitutional proposals, particularly the creation of a Leadership Council at various party levels. He warned that these proposals risk further conflict, as they are not aligned with the party’s constitution.
“Instead of uniting the party, the reconciliation committee has deepened the divide,” Nwaoboshi said. “The proposed leadership structures are unconstitutional and could lead to chaos within the party.”
He also criticized the committee’s recommendation that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the APC’s 2023 governorship candidate, co-chair the party’s leadership alongside a serving minister, arguing that it violates the country’s order of precedence.
“A senator outranks a minister, and this move undermines the integrity of the party’s hierarchy,” Nwaoboshi added.
Further, Nwaoboshi called for respect for the zoning arrangement within the Delta APC, emphasizing that it was time for Delta North to produce the next state chairman, following eight years of leadership by Delta South.
“We must respect the zoning agreement to ensure fairness and unity within the party,” he concluded.
As tensions rise within the party, Nwaoboshi’s comments serve as a critical reminder of the need for unity, fairness, and adherence to the constitution for a stable APC in Delta State.
