Delta CP Visits Ogwashi-Uku, Agbor Commands, Seeks Stronger Community Partnership

By Peter Onyekachukwu

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, has continued his familiarisation tour of police formations and traditional institutions across the state, with visits to the Ogwashi-Uku and Agbor Area Commands as well as royal fathers in the Agbor axis.

The tour, aimed at strengthening operational coordination and deepening community partnership in policing, saw the Commissioner engage with officers, men and key stakeholders in the two area commands.

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, CP Adesola visited the Ogwashi-Uku Area Command, where he met with officers and relevant stakeholders to assess operations and encourage improved service delivery.

The Commissioner also visited the Agbor Area Command on Thursday, January 29, 2026, where he addressed personnel and stakeholders, reiterating the command’s commitment to effective, professional and collaborative policing.

As part of the visit to Agbor, CP Adesola paid courtesy calls on traditional rulers in the area, including the Dein of Agbor, His Royal Majesty, Dr Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagborekuzi I; the Obi of Owa Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor II, OON; and the Obi of Umunede.

Speaking during the interaction, the Dein of Agbor described the Nigeria Police Force as the “lifeboat of the nation” and stressed the need for unity, mutual respect and collective responsibility in safeguarding the country.

He drew attention to challenges of police welfare and inadequate equipment, urging greater support to enable officers perform their duties effectively.

The monarch also expressed concern over the rising menace of drug abuse within the Agbor community, describing it as a major security threat, and called for sustained joint efforts by the Police and the community to tackle the problem.

He further advised members of the public to avoid provoking officers in the lawful discharge of their duties, noting that armed officers often make split-second decisions in dangerous situations.

Similarly, the Obi of Owa Kingdom, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor II, said security is a collective responsibility, adding that community development largely depends on the commitment of the people. He noted that when residents work together, drug-related crimes and other security challenges can be significantly reduced.

Responding, CP Adesola said his policing approach is anchored on close collaboration with the people, noting that community members possess valuable knowledge of their environment that is critical to crime prevention and effective policing.

He reaffirmed the Delta State Command’s commitment to inclusive, proactive and community-oriented policing, and called on residents to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to enhance security across the state.
