Overland Airways Resumes Lagos, Abuja Flights to Warri

DELTA: Overland Airways, Nigeria’s oldest private airline, is set to resume direct daily flights from Lagos and Abuja to Warri, rekindling air travel links to the oil-rich city via Osubi Airport from Friday, May 16, 2025.

The airline’s return marks a significant moment for Warri, restoring a vital transportation link between the city and Nigeria’s economic and political capitals. Overland had previously operated from Warri, and its resumption with more than 60 scheduled weekly flights, aims to meet growing demand for business and leisure travel in the Niger Delta region.

For the management of Osubi Airport, this development is both strategic and symbolic.

“This is not just a route resumption, it’s a homecoming for Overland Airways,” said Winston Egwuatu, Airport Manager at Osubi. “Their return strengthens our operational portfolio and gives travelers, especially those in the oil and business sectors, more flexibility and convenience.”

Osubi Airport has in recent months undergone key upgrades, aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and flight reliability. The renewed presence of Overland Airways is being seen as an endorsement of the airport’s improved facilities and the region’s growing reputation as a secure and viable travel destination.

With this restoration of direct air access, travelers from Lagos and Abuja now have faster, more reliable options for reaching Warri, whether for business deals, family visits, or tourism activities.

Industry observers say the development will also stimulate the local economy, support investor mobility, and contribute to regional integration across the Niger Delta.
