DELTA: A total of 250 Christian pilgrims from Delta State will be airlifted to Israel and Jordan from Port Harcourt International Airport on March 1, 2025, as part of the 2024 pilgrimage sponsored by the federal and Delta State governments.
The Executive Secretary of the Delta State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Very Rev. Fr. Christopher Ekabo, confirmed the development, noting that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has fulfilled all financial obligations to ensure a smooth journey for Team Delta.
“Our indefatigable governor, Dr. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, has provided the necessary financial support for this spiritual journey. The federal government has also played a key role. We are ready to go, to the glory of God,” he said.
He advised all pilgrims to have their valid international passports, relevant travel documents, and Yellow Cards, which can be obtained from the Port Services office at the Federal Secretariat along Okpanam Road, Asaba.
Rev. Fr. Ekabo also announced that the Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, will lead the media team covering the pilgrimage. He will be assisted by Mr. Harry Owoso of Delta Broadcasting Service and Mr. Austin Azu of News Central Television.
“Oghenesivbe’s appointment is based on his proven track record as a professional media strategist. The media team will provide daily updates on the activities of Team Delta through various communication channels,” he stated.
Rev. Fr. Ekabo expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori for their unwavering support and urged Christians in Delta to continue praying for the leaders of the state and the nation.
Governor Oborevwori is expected to address the pilgrims before their departure from Asaba to Port Harcourt, where they will board their flight to Jordan.
