Delta State Police Command has arrested a notorious suspected kidnapper and four alleged cultists in separate operations, recovering dangerous weapons and ammunition.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, said in a statement on Thursday that the arrests were made following credible intelligence.

According to him, on July 27, 2025, at about 1:20 a.m., operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team led by ASP Julius Robinson, with support from the command’s X-Squad and Buffalo Patrol Teams, stormed a hideout along Ibusa Road and arrested a notorious suspect identified as 42-year-old Chiadiji Collins, also known as “Smooth.”

Bright said, “Upon interrogation, the suspect led operatives to his residence at Ewulu community in Aniocha South LGA where a search warrant was executed. One AK-47 rifle and forty rounds of live ammunition were recovered.”

He added that the police also arrested one Ezechie Andrew in the same community and recovered two pump action guns and two live cartridges from him. Both suspects are in custody.

In a separate operation, Bright noted that on July 30, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m., operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad stormed a hideout at Big Gate, Campus III, Abraka, and arrested 21-year-old Benjamin Okwufulueze, 22-year-old Augustine Ifeanyi, and 27-year-old Iruma Japheth.

Bright said, “One fabricated Beretta pistol with four live ammunition, a black cap with Eiye inscription, and a battle axe were recovered. The suspects confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity.”

Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, urged parents and guardians to discourage their children from crime and cultism. He also advised residents to report suspicious persons and movements to the police.
