Delta Police Arrest Serial Killer Linked to UNIBEN Student’s 2020 Murder

By Peter Onyekachukwu

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial killer and prison escapee, Michael Ezenwai, who allegedly murdered a 26-year-old woman in Agbor and was also implicated in the 2020 killing of UNIBEN student, Uwaila Omozuwa.

According to a police statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect was apprehended on October 24, 2025, after attempting to sell a suspected stolen phone.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Agbor mobilised operatives who arrested Ezenwai and began questioning him. While he initially claimed the phone came from Libya, the device rang shortly after, with a caller identifying it as belonging to her sister, Christabel Egedefe.

Acting on this lead, officers proceeded to Christabel’s residence, where she was found dead in her apartment.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to killing the victim on October 23, 2025. He admitted that he attacked her during a robbery operation, murdered her when she resisted handing over her motorcycle keys, and stole her mobile phones.

Police investigations later revealed that Ezenwai is a serial murderer and a member of the syndicate responsible for raping and killing Uwaila Omozuwa, a 200-level UNIBEN student attacked inside a church in 2020.

He also confessed to escaping from the Oko Correctional Centre during the EndSARS jailbreak in 2020. The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.

In a separate development, the police have arrested a pastor accused of defilement, rape, and sexual assault in Sapele.

The Command said it received a petition on October 13, 2025, alleging that Pastor Daniel Ololo of Omega Prophetic Prayer Ministry used fake prophecies to lure and exploit vulnerable female church members.

Investigations conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department revealed that the pastor coerced victims into believing that having sex with him was necessary for their deliverance.

Further findings showed that Ololo allegedly had carnal knowledge of three sisters from the same family, including a 17-year-old girl.

The suspect was arrested on November 17, 2025, at his church premises and is currently in custody as investigations continue.

SP Bright Edafe assured residents that the Command remains committed to ensuring justice and safeguarding the public from criminal predators.
