DELTA: The Delta State Government has announced plans to officially flag off the 2025 edition of the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) Vaccination Campaign in a bid to boost child health and eradicate preventable diseases across the state.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Communication and Functioning Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Theresa Adiabua Oliko, the flag-off ceremony will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Nnebisi Road, Asaba. The event is scheduled to commence at 10:00 am, with guests expected to be seated by 9:00 am.

Mrs. Oliko urged Deltans and residents to support the campaign, emphasizing the importance of immunization in safeguarding the health of children. “Immunization remains one of the most effective strategies to protect our children against vaccine-preventable diseases. We call on parents, guardians, and caregivers to actively participate and ensure that no child is left behind,” she said.

The National Immunization Plus Days campaign is a major public health initiative aimed at strengthening immunity against diseases such as polio and measles, especially among children under the age of five. Health officials and development partners are expected to grace the ceremony as Delta State joins the rest of the nation in reaffirming its commitment to child health and survival.

The Primary Health Care Development Agency has assured that all necessary logistics are in place to ensure the smooth implementation of the vaccination campaign across the 25 local government areas of the state.
