Delta Speaker Commissions Ultra – Modern Market in Delta

DELTA: In a landmark event, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, on Monday commissioned the newly completed Ekpan Modern Market in Uvwie Local Government Area.

The market, featuring 94 stalls and a state-of-the-art abattoir, is a significant milestone in the Delta State Government’s drive for grassroots development.

The commissioning ceremony attracted dignitaries including Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni, JP, Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council; HRM Dr. Emmanuel Ekamadjewan Sideso, OON, Abe 1, JP; and PDP leader Hon. Chief Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata, among others. Traditional rulers, political leaders, and community stakeholders were also present.

In his address, Rt. Hon. Guwor commended the Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Ofoni, for delivering a project aligned with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s developmental vision. “This modern market is a testament to what visionary leadership can achieve. It will not only boost economic activities but also improve the livelihoods of our people,” Guwor said.

Hon. Chief Ofoni expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for his support and commitment to Uvwie’s growth. “This market is just one of many projects aimed at uplifting our community. Every corner of Uvwie will feel the impact of this administration,” Ofoni assured.

The event’s highlight was the empowerment of over 30 elderly women by Hon. Chief Ofoni, with an additional ₦500,000 donation from Hon. Chief Ighrakpata to support the initiative.

The Ekpan Modern Market is expected to stimulate economic activities in Uvwie, providing traders with a conducive environment and fostering development in Delta State.
