A women-focused political support group under the umbrella of the Forum of Good Governance (FOOG) has launched a spirited campaign for the continuity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration beyond 2027, describing his leadership as bold, reform-driven, and committed to inclusive national development.
Speaking at the formal unveiling of the FOOG Women Support Group in Warri, a key facilitator of the group emphasized that President Tinubu’s administration has shown uncommon political will in addressing long standing structural problems, particularly in the economy, governance, and gender inclusion.
“It is a great honour to be addressing women I consider not just colleagues but mentors,” she said. “FOOG is committed to supporting credible leadership, and we believe the current administration has demonstrated a clear roadmap toward sustainable national transformation.”
According to her, the group’s backing for President Tinubu is rooted in his resolve to reform critical institutions, empower women, boost economic growth, and decentralize development through regional development commissions across the six geopolitical zones.
“The president understands that progress sometimes comes with political resistance. He’s not chasing popularity but results. His reforms in the Central Bank and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), as well as the 3.84% GDP growth in Q4 2024 the highest in three years are just a few indicators of the gains so far,” she added.
She also highlighted key achievements of the administration, including: Over 900,000 beneficiaries of the Presidential Loan and Grant Scheme. 300,000+ students supported through the Student Loan Scheme. 440 ongoing road projects, spanning over 2,700km of superhighways. Introduction of five new Regional Development Commissions. Over $50 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) commitments
More than 13,500 terrorists neutralized in ongoing security operations. Rise in net foreign exchange reserves from $3.99 billion in 2023 to $23.11 billion in 2024. $8 billion unlocked in oil and gas sector investments. Over $800 million in solid mineral investments. Passage of four landmark tax bills. Implementation of a new minimum wage of N20,000
“President Tinubu has not only prioritized women in leadership but has also inspired confidence from the global business community. The recent national award presented to Bill Gates is a clear move to attract more international investment and cooperation,” she said.
In her welcome remarks, Mrs. Tina Otumara, who hosted the event, said the formation of the women’s support group is a direct response to the president’s performance, especially in the face of the complex challenges inherited by his administration.
“The challenges are deep-rooted and require continuity to tackle them effectively. This is why we’re here to mobilize Nigerian women and ensure the vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda is fully realized,” she said.
Otumara also stressed that FOOG is not a mere formality, but a serious initiative requiring every member’s full commitment and discipline. She called on members to remain steadfast and proactive in their support for the administration.
The event was also graced by Chief (Mrs.) Esther Okotie-Eboh, the Iye of Warri Kingdom, who was praised for her role in initiating the FOOG Women Support Group. Attendees were charged to see the moment as a call to action in shaping Nigeria’s future through sustained support for visionary leadership.
“Nigerian women must rise to the occasion,” said one of the closing speakers. “The Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a slogan it’s a movement for national rebirth, and women are at the heart of it.”
