DELTA: Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has described the state’s cultural and ethnic diversity as a key factor in its prosperity and development.
He made this assertion on Sunday when the Arewa Community, led by Alhaji Ibrahim Baba Gero, Seriki Hausa of Delta State, paid him a solidarity visit at his residence in Asaba to mark his 60th birthday anniversary.
Onyeme commended Deltans for their hospitality, emphasizing that the state remains a welcoming home for people of different backgrounds.
“This visit is very special to me. It is heartwarming to see that the Hausa community, like many others, has made Delta their home. Our people are known for their accommodating nature, and we do not discriminate based on tribe or religion.
What matters most is that everyone engages in positive and progressive activities that contribute to our state’s growth,” he stated.
Expressing gratitude for the visit, Onyeme noted that Delta State continues to enjoy economic and social growth due to the peaceful coexistence of its various ethnic groups.
In response, the leader of the Arewa Community, Alhaji Ibrahim Baba Gero, speaking through the Chairman of the Delta State Muslim Welfare Board, Alhaji Auwalu Tukur, lauded Onyeme for his contributions to governance and humanity.
“We left the Mosque and came straight to the Deputy Governor’s Lodge because we deeply appreciate his efforts.
The Hausa community stands firmly in support of him and recognizes him as one of our own. He is representing Delta State excellently in government,” Alhaji Tukur stated.
The visit reinforced the strong relationship between the Delta State government and its diverse ethnic communities, further promoting unity and inclusivity in the state.
