The Executive Director of Projects at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, has led a project inspection team to assess completed and ongoing projects across the six ethnic nationalities within the commission’s mandate areas.
The inspection team, which included heads of departments and COREN-certified engineers from DESOPADEC’s Directorate of Projects, commenced the exercise on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Warri South Local Government Area. The team then proceeded to Sapele, Okpe, Ethiope West, Ethiope East, Ughelli North, and Udu Local Government Areas. On the third day, inspections covered Isoko North, Isoko South, and Ndokwa East, while the fourth day focused on projects in the Ika nation and parts of the Ndokwa nation.
Among the projects inspected were the construction of health centers and doctors’ resident at Obodo and Utagba-Uno, an administrative block at the College of Education, Warri, an ultra-modern market at Ubeji, and road networks with side drains in Jesse and Sapele. Other key projects included civic centers, police stations, market lock-up shops and storage house, classroom renovations, solar-powered streetlights, and transformer installations across various communities in the mandate areas.
Speaking to journalists during the inspection, Dr. Okorodudu commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his commitment to infrastructural development in oil-producing communities. He emphasized that the governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda has facilitated the funding of impactful, people-oriented projects across the state.
The inspection exercise is expected to continue in other mandate areas yet to be reached.
