In his address, Mr Olley encouraged students to commit to their studies and dream big. He described education as a holistic process that extends beyond the classroom into homes and society at large.

“What we’re doing today is shaping your future,” he said. “It’s not just about the prize money. Set goals, work hard, and avoid shortcuts. My father used to say, ‘Those who read will live on; those who don’t will become slaves to their peers.’ That’s a lesson I want you all to remember.”

He also cautioned against unlawful pursuits, particularly internet fraud, urging students to reject the notion that “education is a scam.”

Speaking on behalf of Collins Edema, Pastor Tuoyo Coker emphasized the shared responsibility of parents, communities, churches, and government in nurturing children.

“Raising a child should not be left solely to parents. When society neglects children, we train them in unintended ways,” he said. “The social challenges we face today reflect this neglect. We must do better.”

He praised the Olu of Warri for bringing together students from across the state to inspire a renewed commitment to education and excellence.
