As Muslims across the globe marked the Eid-el-Kabir festival, Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has called on the people of the state to embrace unity, compassion, and sacrifice as guiding principles for peaceful coexistence and collective development.
Speaking to journalists shortly after observing the Eid prayer at the central Eid ground in Okene, the governor described this year’s celebration as symbolic, coming at a time when the state and nation are navigating complex social and economic challenges.
“This is a time to reflect on the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, unity, and submission to the will of Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS),” Ododo said. “We must not only celebrate but also renew our commitment to the values that keep us together as a people.”
The governor urged residents to use the occasion to pray for themselves, their communities, the state, and the nation at large, stressing that spiritual dedication and communal harmony are crucial to the growth of society.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration to inclusive development, emphasizing that every community in the state would benefit from government projects and interventions.
“Our administration is focused on industrialization, rural development, and job creation. We are determined to ensure that no community is left behind,” he said. “New projects and investments are on the way, all aimed at building the Kogi State of our dreams.”
Ododo also used the opportunity to call on citizens to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, praying for divine wisdom to guide the president in his leadership of the country.
“As we celebrate, let us remember the essence of this festival—sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and unity. Let us reach out to the needy, forgive one another, and stand together as proud Kogites and Nigerians,” he added.
The governor’s message comes as a rallying call for renewed patriotism and social cohesion in a state known for its ethnic diversity, emphasizing the importance of shared values in building a prosperous future.
