The Emir of Gudi Emirate Council in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Isa Bunuwa Maiduguri Ibn Khaji (Mai Gudi), is dead.

Family sources told Daily Trust that the Emir passed away at Nizamiye Hospital, a private clinic in Abuja, after a brief illness.

A family source said, “He passed away after brief illness at Nizamiye hospital in Abuja. He died in his 70s years living behind four wives but with no children. God has not blessed him with kids. Details of funeral prayers of the deceased will be communicated in due course.”

The Secretary of the Gudi Emirate Council in Gadaka confirmed the Emir’s passing and announced that funeral prayers will hold tomorrow, Friday, by 2:00 pm at the Emir’s palace in Gadaka.

The late Emir was the first Emir of Gudi Emirate Council in Fika LGA of Yobe State. He was among the 12 Emirs appointed by the late Governor Bukar Abba Ibrahim in 1992, when he created 12 more Emirate councils as the state’s first civilian governor.

The majority of the people in the Gudi Emirate Council are from the Gamo ethnic group, who are predominantly farmers and traders.
