EXTORTION:Gov Oborevwori Bans Civilian JTF in Delta…

Following incessant reports of extortion, harassment and intimidation by members of the public against operatives of Joint Civilian Tasks Force,the Delta state government has announced immediate disbandment of the para military outfit.

The ban is contained in an electronic letter made available to newsmen by Engr. Udoka Emmanuel Chika-dibie,
Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta state on Security on Tuesday in Warri.

He said the Government of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State will not tolerate anything that will cause breach of public peace in the state.

We have received so many complaints from some Delta citizens over the pains and maltreatment meted on them by a paramilitary outfit with code name (CIVILIAN JOINT TASK FORCE).

The reports against the outfit from different people ranges from extortions of motorists, excessive use of force, assaults and vandalization of vehicles.

The Government of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State will not tolerate anything that will cause breach of public peace in our state.

In view of this, I have been directed to disband the operation of the above mentioned outfit in the affected areas with immediate effect and invite the state Executive for a meeting in Warri as slated below:
