The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has summoned the management of Air Peace Limited over numerous consumer complaints regarding non-refunded fares for cancelled flights.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Commission said Air Peace is to appear at its Abuja headquarters on June 23, 2025, and present documentation including refund logs, records of cancelled flights over the past year, and steps taken to address passenger inconvenience.
According to the FCCPC, these alleged actions may violate Sections 130 and 33 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018, which guarantee timely refunds for unfulfilled bookings.
Failure to comply, the Commission warned, could attract severe sanctions, including fines or imprisonment.
While the airline had previously challenged an earlier probe into exploitative ticket pricing, the FCCPC clarified that this summons pertains solely to refund issues.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumers from unfair practices across all sectors, including air travel.
