Federal Government Declares May 1 Public Holiday for Workers’ Day

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in an official statement issued on behalf of the government.

Tunji-Ojo praised Nigerian workers for their dedication and sacrifices, noting that their efforts are instrumental to the nation’s development and the respect Nigeria enjoys on the global stage.

“There is dignity in labour. Our commitment and dedication to our work are essential to building the nation,” the minister said.

He further urged workers to adopt a culture of innovation and productivity to help drive national growth.
