FG Declares October 1st Public Holiday.

The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended congratulations to all Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora on the historic occasion.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister urged citizens to “continue to uphold the patriotic spirit, unity, and resilience” that have sustained the nation since its independence in 1960.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also encouraged Nigerians to keep faith in the Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Tinubu, which is focused on national rebirth, economic transformation, and collective prosperity. He expressed confidence that the country will continue to grow stronger in peace and development with the cooperation of all citizens.
