Abuja-The Federal Government of Nigeria will officially launch the Diaspora BRIDGE Platform on Monday, July 28, at the State House, Abuja. The platform is designed to connect Nigerian professionals and academics living abroad with local education and research institutions.
The event will be led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa.
A New Digital Link to Global Talent
Diaspora BRIDGE stands for Bridging Research, Innovation, Development, and Global Engagement. It is a digital tool created to strengthen Nigeria’s ties with its diaspora community, especially in the fields of education, research, and innovation.
Through this platform, Nigerian experts abroad can register their specializations and connect directly with universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and research bodies in Nigeria.
Targeted Support for Local Institutions
The platform will allow Nigerian institutions to post specific needs and match with diaspora experts who can help fill knowledge gaps. It also supports virtual collaboration, project tracking, and academic matching.
The system will integrate with existing government tools like the Tertiary Education Research Applications System (TERAS) to ensure proper coordination, transparency, and measurable outcomes.
Boosting Education and Development
According to the Ministry of Education, the initiative will help promote long-term partnerships in areas such as education reform, scientific research, and technology development.
It also aims to support national development goals by improving capacity in Nigeria’s higher education and research sectors.
