FUPRE VC Warns Against Planned Campus Disruption in Delta

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Professor E.O. Agbalagba, has raised an alarm over a security threat targeting the university.

In an internal and external memo dated Monday, 21st July 2025, addressed to all staff and students, Professor Agbalagba stated: “This is to notify the University Community that Management is in receipt of Security information that some persons or group of persons are planning to block, obstruct, cause crisis and unleash catastrophic damage to life and properties in the University.”

He further cautioned that Management will not sit idly and watch any individual or group attempt to disrupt what he described as one of the most outstanding achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration the uninterrupted academic calendar in Nigerian universities.

“The Federal University of Petroleum Resources is a legal entity of Government and it is governed by Act, law and regulations,” Agbalagba emphasized. “Thus, any staff or student who will partake now or in future in any act that will cause the breach of peace of the University community be informed, that there are consequences for every action that contravenes the University rules and regulations. Management will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the laws. So, be warned.”

The memo was copied to key security and government officials, including the Governor of Delta State, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, the Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, and security heads from the DSS, Police, and Operation Delta Sweep.
