Ganduje Sets Terms for Kwankwaso’s Possible Return to APC

By Peter Onyekachukwu

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has welcomed reports of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s interest in returning to the ruling party but insists it must be on the party’s terms.

Speaking to BBC Hausa on Friday, Ganduje said the APC has clear rules and guidelines that Kwankwaso must adhere to before being readmitted.

“Anyone who wants to join is welcome, but they must follow due process. We have rules and a constitution,” Ganduje stressed, likening Kwankwaso’s possible return to “licking back what has been vomited.”

Credible sources disclosed that Kwankwaso has already initiated talks with APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, over his defection.

On the party’s recent stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, Ganduje explained it was aimed at reviewing the APC’s loss in the 2023 elections and appreciating President Bola Tinubu for his developmental strides and appointments in Kano.

The former Kano governor also dismissed rumours of a rift between him and President Tinubu, insisting their relationship remains strong.

“There’s nothing between us but love. He’ll support us, and we’ll support him to reclaim Kano in 2027,” he said, adding that divisions within the Kano APC have now been resolved.
