Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), particularly the 207 Quick Response Group (QRG), for its sustained support in security operations aimed at tackling banditry and other criminal activities in the state and the wider North-West region.
The governor gave the commendation in Gusau during the annual socio-cultural activities organised by the 207 QRG of the Nigerian Air Force, describing the unit’s contributions as critical to ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in Zamfara.
“I wish to particularly commend the 207 Quick Response Group for its vital role in supporting security operations within Zamfara State and the wider North-West region,” Lawal said. “On behalf of the Government and people of Zamfara State, I express our profound appreciation for your courage, sacrifice and steadfast commitment to the protection of lives and property.”
The governor, who was represented by the Emir of Gusau, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello II, noted that the achievements recorded by the Air Force in Zamfara and across the North-West in the past year are clear evidence of its dedication and resilience in the face of complex security challenges.
He urged officers and men of the Nigerian Air Force to remain focused, disciplined and united, adding that Nigeria’s diversity remains a source of strength that enhances unity and operational effectiveness.
Earlier in his address, the Commander, 207 Quick Response Group, Nigerian Air Force Base, Gusau, Group Captain P. A. Ogba, said the socio-cultural presentations showcased the unity, camaraderie and shared sense of purpose that define the Nigerian Air Force as a cohesive and professional fighting force.
“This annual event signifies the conclusion of a year characterised by intensive training, sustained operations and unwavering commitment to the defence of our nation,” Ogba said.
The commander also reviewed the activities of the unit, stating that its operations are firmly guided by the Command Philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal S. K. Aneke.
“The current Air Force philosophy is to enhance and sustain a highly motivated, professional and mission-ready force capable of delivering decisive airpower effects in synergy with surface forces for the realisation of national security objectives,” he explained.
Ogba further disclosed that in line with this philosophy, the 207 QRG recorded notable operational achievements, including intelligence-driven operations, deployment of advanced technologies to improve effectiveness, and the entrenchment of a proactive safety culture.
He reaffirmed the unit’s commitment to continue supporting joint security operations to ensure improved safety and stability across Zamfara State and the North-West region.
