FULL RELEASE BELOW:
Subject: Extension of Amnesty for Firearms in Okpe Communities.
In alignment with the M.O.R.E Agenda of His Excellency Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, we are committed to enhancing the security of all Deltans.
As part of this initiative, we have previously granted amnesty to various communities within Delta Central, which has significantly contributed to the reduction of criminal activities and the collection of illegal arms in warri and it’s environs.
Following the directive of the Governor, we are pleased to announce the extension of this amnesty program to the residents of the three Okpe communities: Jeddo, Ugbokodo, and Ughoton.
This initiative aims to encourage individuals in possession of light and heavy weapons to voluntarily surrender them.
Amnesty Period:
Start Date: March 20, 2025.
End Date: March 31, 2025.
During this period, we urge all residents who may possess firearms to take advantage of this opportunity.
You can surrender your weapons without fear of identification or repercussions by delivering them to the Unuevworo of Jeddo or to recognized political leaders within your communities.
It is important to note that if individuals choose not to comply with this amnesty offer by the end of the designated period, their safety may be at risk.
We strongly encourage everyone to participate in this initiative for the betterment of our communities and the overall security of Delta State.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Signed,
Engr. Udoka Emmanuel.
Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security.
Delta State Government.
