Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the killing of two Kano State indigenes by suspected youths in Agan community, Makurdi, describing the act as “barbaric and unacceptable.”
The victims, reportedly transporting goods to the eastern part of Nigeria, were attacked around 11 p.m. on Monday after stopping to buy a recharge card, according to security sources.
Reacting through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Kula Tersoo, Governor Alia directed security agencies to arrest the perpetrators immediately. The police have since confirmed the arrest of five suspects in connection with the incident.
“We cannot allow criminal elements to destroy the peaceful and hospitable reputation of Benue people,” Alia stated. “These criminals must be brought to justice without delay.”
The governor extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kano State, particularly to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, assuring them that the Benue government is committed to ensuring justice is served swiftly.
