Despite early morning rainfall on Friday,May 3rd, Delta state Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori braved the weather to inspect the ongoing construction of the Trans-Warri–Ode-Itsekiri road and bridge project.
The infrastructure initiative, which stretches approximately 21 kilometers and includes 15 interconnected bridges, is expected to be completed within the next 19 months.
During the inspection, the Governor assured the public that his administration is not indebted to the contractors handling the project. He expressed satisfaction with the current pace and quality of work, noting significant progress since he assumed office.
“This project has been on the drawing board for nearly two decades, but real development only began under my administration,” he remarked. “The results are now clearly visible, and we remain committed to delivering on this promise.”
He further highlighted the strategic economic importance of the road to the Itsekiri people, emphasizing that the new infrastructure will greatly ease the transportation of agricultural produce from rural farming communities to urban markets.
“The road will open up economic opportunities for our people and reduce the burden of accessing the city. It will also pave the way for rapid development in previously neglected riverine areas,” the Governor added.
The Trans-Warri–Ode-Itsekiri project is widely seen as a catalyst for growth and a significant milestone in the state’s infrastructure drive.
