A chilling and horrific incident unfolded in Mumbai under the Vinoba Bhave Nagar police jurisdiction when a 21-year-old student, Abdul Rehman, was reportedly set on fire by five of his friends under the guise of celebrating his birthday.

The gruesome act occurred on the night of November 25, Abdul Rehman’s 21st birthday.
According to Abdul Rehman’s brother, all five friends called Abdul downstairs at midnight for the supposed celebration. The friends initially engaged in typical birthday pranks, throwing eggs and stones at him under the pretense of cutting a cake.

However, the situation turned shocking and violent when the group produced a flammable liquid from a scooter, poured it over the young man, and then set him ablaze. The entire horrific event was captured by nearby CCTV cameras, which showed the victim engulfed in flames.
Abdul Rehman sustained severe burns and is currently undergoing intensive medical treatment at a hospital.
Police swiftly arrested all five accused individuals. They have been remanded to custody until November 29 as official investigations into the motive and circumstances of this appalling crime continue.
