KANO — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially presented Certificates of Return to two members-elect of the Kano State House of Assembly. The certificates were issued following the by-elections held on August 16.
The brief ceremony took place on Friday at the INEC headquarters in Kano, where the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Abdu Zango, handed over the documents to the successful candidates.
- Mr. Garba Ya’u Gwarmai of the All Progressives Congress (APC), representing the Ghari/Tsanyawa Constituency.
- Mr. Ali Hassan Shanono of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), representing the Shanono/Bagwai Constituency.
In their separate remarks, the newly elected lawmakers expressed gratitude to INEC for conducting what they described as credible elections. They also thanked their constituents for the mandate to serve, promising to prioritize key areas such as healthcare, education, security, and the provision of potable water.
