DELTA: Former Secretary to the Delta State Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring transparency in the 2024 oil block licensing round, which paved the way for two prominent Isoko sons to secure oil blocks.
Macaulay specifically congratulated High Chief Emonena Victor Egukawhore, Chairman of Dewayles International Limited, and Chief Henry Ojogho, Founder of Broron Oil and Gas Limited, for their successful bids.
According to him, the open process introduced by President Tinubu marked a departure from the past, where oil block allocations were influenced by personal interests rather than merit.
“This is a landmark achievement for the Isoko Nation. We are the second ethnic group to discover oil in Nigeria after Oloibiri in 1958. The President’s reforms have given us the opportunity to participate in our country’s resources fairly,” Macaulay said.
He further urged Nigerians to be patient with the Tinubu administration, noting that reforms take time to yield results.
Macaulay, who holds the title of Okiroro of Isoko Nation, also appealed to the President to recognize Isoko sons and daughters through federal appointments, saying, “Despite our contributions to the nation’s economy, we are yet to benefit from federal appointments. It’s time the Isoko people are given their rightful place in national leadership.”
He concluded by encouraging Isoko leaders to continue promoting unity and development within their communities.
