“It Feels Like He Came Back”: Davido Reveals Eerie Resemblance Between Late Son Ifeanyi and Newborn

Global Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has spoken candidly about the overwhelming emotional journey of loss, love, and miraculous rebirth. In a recent interview on Apple Music 1 with Ebro Darden, the superstar revealed the astonishing resemblance between his late son, Ifeanyi, and his newborn son—calling it nothing short of “scary.”

Davido, who lost his first son Ifeanyi to a tragic drowning accident in November 2022, described the aftermath of the loss as life-altering. “That type of loss makes you just be like, ‘I’m out’. I just wanted to take care of my wife, my family, and get my head right,” he said, reflecting on the dark period that followed the heartbreaking incident at his Banana Island residence.

But just when it seemed the world had gone silent, fate stirred again. In October 2023, Davido and his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland, whom he had quietly married in the wake of the tragedy, welcomed a set of twins—a boy and a girl.

What has stunned the couple and those close to them, however, is how uncannily similar their newborn son is to Ifeanyi.

“The boy looks just like my son that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him. We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back’ type stuff,” Davido shared, his voice tinged with awe and emotion.

Grief, Growth, and Grace

The singer said the painful journey reshaped his perspective, giving him a newfound strength and sense of purpose. Today, he says he uses his experience to encourage others battling personal loss, testifying to resilience and the power of faith.

“It made me stronger. It made me believe in God more,” he said, crediting the twins’ birth, his blossoming marriage, and the success of his 2023 album ‘Timeless’ as symbols of divine mercy.

Reflecting on his meteoric rise and sustained relevance in the music industry, Davido said he now finds fulfillment in watching his childhood dreams become reality. He also spoke about his creative partnership with American superstar Chris Brown, revealing that they have recorded over 20 unreleased tracks together.

“We could put out two albums right now. It’s going to happen,” Davido hinted, also expressing admiration for Chris Brown’s recent resurgence and 20-year music anniversary celebrations.

As his empire expands, the Nigerian hitmaker is also venturing into film and television, revealing that he is currently executive producing a movie and a series in collaboration with renowned director Dammy Twitch. A personal documentary is also in the works, further cementing Davido’s evolution from global music icon to multi-dimensional storyteller.

From sorrow to stardom, from tragedy to transformation—Davido’s journey stands as a poignant reminder of life’s delicate balance between grief and grace, and the uncanny ways in which hope sometimes returns wearing a familiar face.
