“Everybody Loves Jenifa” Shatters Records with ₦1.6 Billion Box Office Haul; it is no secret that everybody loves Jenifa not just for her sense of humour but her creativity, hardwork and resilience which is showcased in every one of her projects starting from the days of Jenifa’s Diary comic series.
In a recent groundbreaking achievement, the Nigerian comedy film “Everybody Loves Jenifa” has shattered box office records, grossing an unprecedented ₦1.6 billion. This feat cements the movie’s place as one of the highest-grossing films in Nigerian cinema history.
The Movie
“Everybody Loves Jenifa” is a comedy film directed and produced by Funke Akindele and Tunde Olaoye. The film follows the journey of Jenifa, now no longer a young girl who just moved to the city with a dream but an enterprising woman faced with the challenges posed by a new neighbor who threatens to outshine her charity organization leading to series of confrontations, rivalry and character development.

During the announcement of the movie in 2024, Funke set a target of ₦5b in ticket sales; this was considered very ambitious by critics however, she confidently expressed her belief in the movie insisting it would surpass the target. And since the release date of December 13 2024 by FilmOne Distribution And Nile Entertainment, the film not only garnered positive reviews across audiences but grossed ₦500 million in Nigeria within the first 12 days of its release. Everybody loves Jenifa reached ₦1billion at the Nigerian box office within 19 days of release, officially becoming the fastest Nollywood film to achieve this feat.
Funke Akindele is no stranger when it comes to high risk investments, this was also seen during the production of the movie when she directed a live fire scene in her mansion situated in Amem Estate. You know what they say, great risk begets even greater results.
