DUTSE – Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has officially signed the state Hisbah Board Bill into law, formally establishing the Hisbah Board as a statutory body. This move aims to bolster social order and moral discipline across the state, marking the culmination of extensive legislative and administrative efforts spanning over eight months.
The signing ceremony, held on Tuesday at the Council Chamber of Government House, Dutse, during the weekly State Executive Council Meeting, was described by Governor Namadi as a “remarkable achievement.”
“Today, we have signed into law the Hisbah Bill, which establishes the Hisbah Board as an official institution in Jigawa State,” Governor Namadi stated. “This is a process that began seven to eight months ago, and today, by the grace of Allah, we have concluded it.”
Governor Namadi expressed his hope that the Hisbah Board’s operations would significantly contribute to greater social order and moral discipline within Jigawa State. He urged all Hisbah personnel to execute their duties with “the fear of God, fairness, and dedication,” emphasizing the importance of integrity in their work to ensure effectiveness and community benefit.
The new law officially empowers the Hisbah Board to operate throughout Jigawa State, with a mandate that includes promoting moral guidance, social justice, and community well-being. Governor Namadi highlighted that the establishment of the board as a statutory body will undoubtedly enhance its effectiveness and is a testament to the state government’s commitment to shaping the state’s social fabric. He also commended the Hisbah Board Establishment Committee members for their unwavering commitment and hard work in bringing the bill to fruition.
