The Jigawa State Police Command has disbursed N31,450,025.16 to the families of 59 police officers who died in active service.

The cheques were presented by the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, under the Group Life Assurance (GLA) and IGP Family Welfare Scheme.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the initiative reflects the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their dependents.

Speaking during the ceremony, CP Dahiru described the deceased officers as “heroes who laid down their lives in defence of peace, justice, and national unity,” assuring that their sacrifices would never be forgotten.

“This gesture is part of the IGP’s welfare initiative to provide financial relief and moral support to the families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty,” Dahiru said.

He advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds for the benefit of their families and dependents, while reaffirming the Force’s commitment to discipline, accountability, and personnel welfare.

The commissioner also assured that the Command would continue to implement measures to boost morale and enhance the well-being of both serving and retired personnel.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Surajo Shehu thanked the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner for their compassion and continued support.

He promised that the funds would be used wisely to sustain the legacy and honour the memory of the fallen officers.
