JUST IN: PDP Zones 2027 Presidency to South, Maintains Status Quo

By Peter Onyekachukwu

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday resolved to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South.

The decision followed the adoption of the recommendation of the party’s National Zoning Committee, chaired by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, during NEC’s 102nd meeting.

Presenting the committee’s report, which was ratified by NEC, Diri said the zoning arrangement was in line with the party’s established rotational principle between the North and South.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, said NEC agreed to sustain the existing arrangement.

He explained that with the National Chairman of the party expected to emerge from the North at the elective National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State, the presidential ticket has been zoned to the South.
