DELTA: There is palpable tension in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, as fire razed the former JFM building, now housing Current FM. The inferno, which started late in the evening, has raised fears of spreading to nearby structures if urgent action is not taken.
Eyewitnesses at the scene revealed that firefighters from the Delta State Fire Service struggled to contain the blaze due to a shortage of water.
“Our men tried their best, but we ran out of water,” a firefighter at the scene said.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at the time of filing this report. However, images sent from the scene show the building engulfed in flames.
Policemen were deployed to the area to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order, as well as to deter hoodlums from looting the premises.
Residents in the vicinity are urged to remain vigilant as efforts continue to bring the fire under control.
