Kano PDP disowns defectors who formed coalition under ADC

By Peter Onyekachukwu

The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disowned members who defected to join a newly formed coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking at a press briefing in Kano on Thursday, the State Chairman of the PDP, Yusuf Ado Kibiya, dismissed the coalition as inconsequential, stressing that the party in Kano remains united and intact.

“The coalition does not reflect the position or interests of the PDP in Kano. We are united, focused, and committed to quality leadership and delivering results for the people,” Kibiya said.

Highlighting recent achievements, Kibiya noted that the party had made significant progress in mobilising members, restructuring its leadership, and preparing for future political engagements.

“We have successfully conducted elections at the ward, local government, and state levels. All elected executive members have been duly inaugurated and sworn in. This demonstrates our firm commitment to internal democracy and effective party leadership,” he stated.

He explained that the party’s grassroots structures had been strengthened through ongoing mobilisation and repositioning efforts across the state.

Kibiya further assured that the Kano PDP remains absolutely loyal to the National Executive Committee (NEC), adding, “We wish to assure the national leadership that Kano PDP is firmly united and focused.”

He also urged the public, particularly young people, to register with the PDP, describing it as the best political platform for the future of Kano State and Nigeria at large.
