The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping, with the arrest of a suspected kidnapper and the rescue of two abducted villagers in Kalgo and Dandi Local Government Areas of the state.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bashir Usman, said the operations followed credible intelligence and swift collaboration between police operatives and local vigilante groups.
According to him, one of the victims, Alhaji Juli Muhammad, 55, was abducted from his residence in Kokani Village, Kalgo LGA, where he was reportedly chained and taken into the bush by bandits.
He added that another victim, Garba Bachal, 50, was also kidnapped at Maigwaza Village in Dandi LGA.
Usman explained that operatives from Kalgo and Kamba divisions were able to storm the hideout of the suspects, rescue the two victims without injury and arrest one suspect, identified as Umar Usman from Augie Fadama area of Kebbi State.
“On sighting the police, other members of the gang fled, leaving the victim behind. He was rescued safely and taken to Maigwaza Hospital for medical attention,” the PPRO said.
He assured residents that sustained efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network.
The police spokesman said the successful operation demonstrates the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, rapid response, and the protection of lives and property across the state.
