The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has taken its flood safety and security awareness campaign to the streets of Lokoja, urging residents to embrace vigilance and preparedness as flood season looms.
During a roadshow on Tuesday, the Kogi State Director of NOA, Mr. Patrick Edogbanya, said the sensitisation drive—launched after a stakeholders’ meeting on September 3—was aimed at instilling positive values, disaster preparedness, and community resilience.
Edogbanya warned residents of flood-prone areas to take early warnings seriously and move to safer grounds, stressing that proper waste disposal was also key to reducing the risks of flooding.
“Security and safety are everybody’s responsibility. Citizens must stay alert, report suspicious activities, and support security agencies in safeguarding lives and property,” he said.
The NOA boss also urged Nigerians to shun shortcuts to wealth, embrace integrity, and show respect for national symbols, saying such values were essential to building a united and peaceful nation.
To ensure wider coverage, the campaign was conducted in Okun, Igala, Ebira, Yoruba, Hausa, Nupe, and Pidgin English.
