Former Kano State governor and leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has denied claims that he has submitted a letter of intent to join another political party.
In a statement on his official Facebook page, Kwankwaso described the reports as false and urged the public to disregard them.
“We have been alerted to some online statements suggesting that we have submitted a letter of intent to join a political party in the country. We would like to clarify that we have not made any such submission to any party. The public is therefore advised to stay informed of any further information regarding our matter through the established official channels,” he stated.
Kwankwaso’s rebuttal comes amid growing speculation about possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly suggestions that he may be in talks with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Daily Trust had reported that there were strong indications of discussions between Kwankwaso and APC national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, with sources in Kano claiming that Kwankwaso had written to the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. However, this could not be independently confirmed as of press time.
Meanwhile, a source at the APC national secretariat in Abuja disclosed that talks between Kwankwaso and the APC leadership are ongoing and at an advanced stage.
